Craemer UK has recently completed an expansion of its warehouse and production facilities in order to future-proof its Telford-based operations, improve production lead times and maintain their already high level of customer service. Throughout 2014, Craemer UK invested an additional £6.5m in a new stock and distribution facility, extensions to the production and warehouse halls and the installation of two additional state-of-the-art plastic injection moulding machines. The launch of pallet production forms part of Craemer’s extensive growth plan for the next years. Steve Poppitt, Sales Director at Craemer UK, comments: “Until now, pallet production was based solely at our German headquarters. These recent major technical and operational improvements within our Telford premises allow us to embrace the increasing demand for reusable and high-quality plastic pallets and material handling solutions in our UK target markets. All sectors of the UK materials handling industry are now beginning to accept the strong arguments for the use of durable, hygienic plastic pallets as a cost effective alternative to conventional wooden products. The development of a pallet production facility at our UK factory enables us to expand our UK product portfolio and maintain our corporate commitment to the production of high quality plastic products in the UK.” Craemer UK are members of the “Made in Britain” campaign.
Headquartered in Germany, the family-owned Craemer Group employs over 700 people at four European sites in Germany, Slovakia, UK and France. As the manufacturer of the world’s first one-piece injection moulded plastic pallet nearly 50 years ago Craemer is known as a pioneer in plastics processing and continues to be at the forefront of innovation with its wide range of high-quality reusable plastic products. Production at the UK subsidiary started nearly ten years ago and the company has been experiencing continuous growth and business success since opening its doors.
Light, strong & durable: The D Pallet from Craemer
Pallet production will start with the lightweight D plastic pallet. The 1200 x 1000 mm industrial pallet is performing well in the UK as a cost-effective alternative to wooden pallets that offers high load capacity and great versatility with many retrofittable features. Steve Poppitt explains the benefits: “For many of our customers this is a pallet solution that affords a high degree of flexibility, durability and quality, yet is very cost-effective.” The various retrofit options make the adaption to ever-changing logistic requirements simple. Up to 4 strengthening profiles can be easily inserted to increase the pallets’ load capacity to a maximum of 1250 kg in high-rack systems. Optional anti-slip profiles from the upper to the lower deck surfaces provide load security. The D pallet can also be optionally equipped with a 7 mm rim or 22 mm outside rim for the safe handling of standardised box systems.
Craemer UK is excited to now take on pallet production and Steve Poppitt looks to the future: “The D pallet has already been proved to be a reliable load carrier in the daily processes of many UK companies and a definite all-rounder. We have no doubt that many more companies will soon make the switch to plastic pallets.”
The D Plastic Pallet is of course only one product from the extensive Craemer range. Whatever your business; food processing, pharmaceuticals, electronics, manufacturing, logistics or pallet pooling; Craemer has a proven solution for you.
