The press, which consists of two main parts (base and ram), was therefore dismantled into 6 individual units with transport weights of up to 125 tonnes, which had to be reloaded just before the bridge: each unit was loaded onto a heavy-duty transporter with a length of around 50 metres (164 ft) and 24 axles. In reverse gear, the driver and his guide manoeuvred the four reloaded units through the 'bridge' bottleneck and into our production hall. There, the large parts were assembled and brought into their final position using a lifting frame at the press installation site, with a 6-metre deep (20 ft) pit. The new Servo Twin is expected to be up and running by the end of 2024 producing complex seat structure parts for the automotive industry.

About the art of manoeuvring a 2500-tonne press through the eye of a needle
Our metal processing plant in Slovakia is located at the foot of the Lower Tatra Mountains, directly on the Váh River. The scenic location does, however, present us with challenges from time to time. The only paved access road to Craemer Slovakia s.r.o. leads over a narrow concrete bridge with limited load-bearing capacity: a bottleneck for the delivery of large presses such as our new 2500-tonne Schuler press with Twin-Servo technology and a table length of 8 metres (26 ft).
